A Brief History of the McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania Branch

The Gospel first came to McKees Rocks in 1923.  Meetings were held in the homes of the Saints until 1929 when they were held in a storefront in Fleming Park.  At this storefront, there was no running water and no restrooms…just a few chairs, a pot belling stove, and an abundance of the Love of God.

In October of 1931, a block building was dedicated on Island Avenue where the McKees Rocks branch held meetings for over 50 years.  Most of the construction was done by members at an approximate cost of $3,500.

When the building initially took place at our former site on Island Avenue, the Brothers and Sisters obtained stained glass from another local church which was included during construction in the early 1930’s.  To this date, the McKees Rocks branch has preserved these beautiful frames as they were also included in the building of our current location.  If these frames could only testify of the blessings which occurred around them over these many years!

On January 20th, 1985, one last meeting was held at our former Island Avenue site.  A new building was erected on Herbst Road, and it, our present building, was dedicated on February 17th, 1985.

The Church of Jesus Christ is established for the worship of Almighty God and his Son Jesus Christ
