Our Doctrine

The Church of Jesus Christ (The Church) is established for the worship of Almighty God and his Son, Jesus Christ.  The Church presents itself as the true succession of the Gospel as restored by God through Joseph Smith, Jr. during 1820-1830.  After the death of Joseph Smith, Jr. in 1844, the First Counselor of The Church, Sidney Rigdon, moved from Nauvoo, Illinois to Pittsburgh, Pa.  The Church was organized in July, 1862 with William Bickerton as its leader.  The Church was officially incorporated, with headquarters at Monongahela, Pa.  on April 5, 1941.

The Church embraces The Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, with officers, faith, doctrine and ordinances established by Christ when He was upon the earth.  The beliefs are founded on the Bible and Book of Mormon which were inspired by God to be written and  presents the entire plan of salvation and the way of life that must be followed to be saved in the Kingdom of Heaven.

The mission of The Church of Jesus Christ, as directed by Jesus Christ, is to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of The Father, of The Son and the Holy Ghost.  Teaching them to obey everything commanded by Jesus Christ to the Native Americans in the Western Hemisphere, who are descendants of Joseph, one of the Tribes of Israel (American Indians).

The ordained officers are apostles, evangelists, elders (ministers), teachers, deacons and deaconesses.  The Quorum of Twelve Apostles is responsible for the spiritual oversight of The Church throughout the world.  The Quorum of Seventy Evangelist is to proclaim the plan of salvation at home and abroad.

The Church, international in scope, has two General Conferences each year.  They are held in April and October at the World Conference Center in Greensburg, Pa.    The President and his two counselors preside over the conferences and over The Church between conferences to facilitate effective operations.

The Church of Jesus Christ is completely independent and is not affiliated with any other religious group.
